Why did you get into design?

Personally, I became a designer because I wanted to do something proactively, unabashedly positive, creative, technical, beautiful, and profound. I wanted to create things. Beautiful, meaningful things like Macintosh computers, illuminated manuscripts, and dark-mode B2B task management software.

But then you get in the tech trenches and the shells start falling.

Helping you rediscover the joy of design

Do you ever feel like managing stakeholders, chasing down feedback, negotiating resource/technical constraints, and dealing with big egos saps your joy for the craft of design?

My goal with this site and newsletter is to help you rediscover the joy of design in two ways: 1) By solving practical problems that are getting in the way of your creative mission. 2) By showcasing what is valuable, meaningful, beautiful, and important about design.

I'll aim to do both every week, but I'll keep things 80% practical so I can guarantee this site is valuable to you.

Solving real problems for real designers

I spend hours every week digesting and understanding problems faced by real designers like you. There is no fluff on this site. Everything is crafted to be immediately helpful, derived from the detailed study of real problems faced by real human beings. And the solutions? They're well-researched and grounded in my years of experience working as a product designer at venture-backed startups, design agencies, and as a researcher at a top-10 psychology department.

This site is not about me. It's about you. And it's about the creative act that lets you transcend yourself.
